Queen Anne
Queen Anne, described as one of Seattle's most beautiful residential areas, features a broad spectrum of lifestyles and tastes. The people here are as varied as the architecture, which ranges from grand old Victorian mansions to sleek, modern apartment buildings. Queen Anne is a popular area for movies and live theater, and remains active well into the evening.
The area is home to many of the major cultural and civic events of the city. Seattle Center, proud home of the Space Needle, is also the home of the Seattle Opera and Symphony, the Key Arena, several live theaters, and Bumbershoot, Seattle's annual arts festival.
The Shopping District Queen Anne features a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops that specialize in everything from contemporary home furnishings to vintage clothing. Lower Queen Anne's shopping district, located along Mercer Street, is abundant with cafes and specialty shops as well as movie theaters, and florists. There are two major grocery stores in the area, as well as a large selection of fine ethnic restaurants. Upper Queen Anne also offers a large selection of interesting shops and restaurants, as well as two more grocery stores.
In addition to the shopping and dining in this area, Queen Anne is only minutes away from the Seattle Waterfront, with its own shops, restaurants, and public attractions, including the Seattle Aquarium. Spend a day walking around these areas; you'll get to know the neighborhood better, and find many interesting places to go.
